MIPI C-PHY Image Frame Grabber
MIPI C-PHY is a high-speed serial interface developed by the MIPI Consortium with the following advantages:
1. High transmission efficiency
Using three-phase symbol coding technology, 2.28 bits per symbol are transmitted over three lines, which can realize higher data rate than traditional two-phase differential signaling at the same clock frequency, e.g., at 2.5G symbols/s, each channel can provide a data rate of about 5.7Gbps.
2. High Bandwidth
High throughput on a bandwidth-limited channel to meet the needs of high-definition video, high-resolution images and other large data volume transmission, such as support for 48MP camera fast data readout, 8K video recording at 30 frames per second, and 2K resolution displays.
3. Low Power Consumption
With low-power mode and optimized power management functions, it is suitable for battery-powered mobile devices, and can work under lower supply voltage to extend the battery life of the device, such as in portable devices, to ensure that the battery life under prolonged use.
4. Simplified clock system
Clock timing is encoded in each symbol, eliminating the need for separate clock channels, simplifying clock recovery and reducing system design complexity and cost.
5. Good Compatibility
Many common features with D-PHY can coexist on the same IC pin, enabling the development of dual-mode devices, protecting vendors' investment in D-PHY technology and providing more flexible design options.
6. High Reliability
Its three-phase differential signaling configuration and forward error correction coding technology effectively resist noise interference and ensure the integrity and accuracy of data transmission.
7. Diverse application scenarios
Suitable for peripheral connections such as cameras, displays, and sensors in mobile devices, as well as in-vehicle infotainment systems and in-vehicle sensor networks in automotive electronics, and can also be expanded to emerging fields such as the Internet of Things, virtual reality, and 5G communications.
